Training Overview

The Qualified Worker cabinetmaker is a professional in charge of the execution of works related to cabinet-making: furniture, fixtures, inlaid works (veneers) and hardware furniture installation.

After the training, the laureate will be able to execute the following activities:
  • Review of documents related to work
  • Preparation of fullscale plan
  • Selection of wood, nomenclature of the hardware to use, and controling thereof
  • Oreparation of wood (cutting of wood)
  • Wrought leather:
    this operation consists of involving woodworking in the jointer and then the planer
  • Marking parts length
  • Shaping:
    the pieces are successively involved in the wick or chain mortiser (female assembly). It is also involved in the tenoning machine (male assembly), or to the router in order to obtain the selected profile
  • Editing:
    studio work
  • Finishing stage:
    Dependig on the work, the sculpture work is done according to the composition before assembling elements. The sanding and the tinting work are made afterwards.
  • Protection and furniture embellishment.
Age Restriction: 30 years old
School level required:
  • 3rd year of college education
  • Or graduate level specialization in the construction sector.

Qualities and skills the candidate must have:
  • Good dexterity

  • Creative spirit

  • Admission Tests
  • assessments are carried out as follows:
    • Continuous Controls;
    • Culminating examinations;
    • End of training examination.
    After a few years of experience, and after demonstrating his skills, the Cabinetmaker will be given greater responsibilities. He can work as a team leader or foreman just as he can create his own company.
